JEREMY LIPSHAW MENTORS U OF M MATERIALS SCIENCE & ENGINEERING STUDENTS

Jeremy Lipshaw (Product Development Engineer at Aalberts surface technologies-pictured on right) had the privilege of mentoring and guiding University of Michigan Materials Science and Engineering students for their capstone senior design project. Sponsored by Aalberts, the students titled their project “Nondestructive Detection of Martensite Start Temperature in Ferrous Alloys”. The team of 5 successfully designed, built, and tested a prototype device that can measure when steel or iron begins to go through a martensitic phase change, a measurement that would significantly increase the precision of our heat treatment modeling.
